Girls Leading the Way on Climate
Climate change affects everyone, but its consequences are not experienced equally. Changes in weather patterns, environmental degradation and pressure on household resources can affect livelihoods, health, education and the future opportunities available to young people.
EcoSisters Rising positions adolescent girls and young women not simply as people affected by climate change, but as active participants in finding solutions.
The program combines climate education, advocacy, leadership development and climate-smart livelihood opportunities to help girls and young women understand environmental challenges, participate in climate action and build sustainable futures.
The Challenge We Are Addressing
Climate change can affect the resources and opportunities that communities depend on. Young women may experience these effects while having limited opportunities to participate in decisions about environmental issues or access emerging green and climate-related economic opportunities.
At the same time, many young people want to contribute to environmental solutions but may lack the knowledge, networks, resources or platforms needed to turn their ideas into action.
EcoSisters Rising seeks to close that gap by giving girls and young women the knowledge, confidence and practical opportunities to participate in climate action.
